Our Story

Buddha Barn was founded in 2024 by Danielle Tomassetti. After giving birth to her twin boys Danielle yearned to be a loving mother and wife who also maintained a passion and identity outside of the home. Prior to becoming a family manager Danielle worked as an attorney, yoga instructor, and then an automobile salesperson. Shen wore many hats but always had a very deep bond with animals.  In 2018 , encouraged by her husband, Danielle found horseback riding. This began a lifelong commitment to growing as a horsewoman. She loved the equestrian side but yearned for knowledge as a caretaker.  Danielle recognized a big part of the equestrian industry is fueled by the human ego and financial gain which results in horses getting the short end of the stick. As such, she is committed to retiring all of her own working horses at her home farm when they are ready, rescuing select horses that are in need of rehabilitation and extending this cause to donkeys and other animals in need. Danielle lives by the motto do unto others as you would have done unto you. This extends to all animals in her care. She is certified as a PEMF practitioner and performs equine body work, she has practiced liberty and ground work and is always studying new options for healing horses through holistic modalities and cutting edge equine medicinal practices. Danielle is humbled by this work and is devoted to helping heal and remove suffering from these exquisite animals. The name Buddha Barn was inspired by Buddha the Dog. Buddha was a very special dog who devoted time to being a therapy dog he worked with special needs children and dedicated time to visiting old age homes. In 2015 Buddha tragically passed away in a fire, he was missed by many but still sprinkles his magic to those he loved. May his memory drive this rescue.
